New features
Section titled “New features”You Choose Which Payment Settles Your Bill (KAN-2396)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidTransactions & RegisterBills & Reoccuring
When two payments in your bank account look exactly the same — say, two roommates paying rent to the same landlord on the same day — Tovari now catches the tie instead of guessing. You just pick which payment actually settles which bill, so nothing gets marked paid twice by mistake.Mark bills as scheduled when paid externally (KAN-2447)
🌐 Web🍎 iOSBills & Reoccuring
Bills now have a third action alongside Enter and Skip: Mark as Scheduled. When you've paid a bill externally and are waiting for it to clear, you can mark it as scheduled to keep track. A dialog lets you pick the scheduled date and adjust the amount, with a quick "Paid today" control. A badge appears on the bill to show its scheduled status, and the occurrence date and amount update accordingly. Safe to Spend also accounts for scheduled bills so your available balance stays accurate.Sign In with Your Face (or Fingerprint) (KAN-2449)
🍎 iOSAccount & Security
You can now sign in to Tovari on your iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID — no password typing required. After your first login, the app offers to remember you behind your biometric, and from then on a quick glance or tap gets you straight to your finances. You can turn it on or off any time in Settings → Security.Getting help is simpler to find on every screen (KAN-2455)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidAccounts & BalancesTransactions & RegisterBudgetingBills & ReoccuringReports & Insights
Help is easier to find, and now it gives you a choice. Tap help in the mobile app and you can either ask about the screen you're on or open its written guide — on Accounts, your register, Bills and Reports, those guides had no way in at all before. On a computer, help has moved up next to the bell on your dashboard, and the chat button in the corner now says Ask Tovari, so you know what you're getting before you click it.Make a One-Time Bill Repeat (KAN-2555)
🌐 WebBills & Reoccuring
Changed your mind about a bill? You can now switch a scheduled payment between one-time and repeating without deleting it and starting over. Pick a new frequency on any saved bill and it keeps its date — a one-time bill on the 14th becomes a monthly bill on the 14th, not the 1st. Going the other way, back to a single payment, we'll show you exactly which payment survives and what you'll lose before you commit, because that one can't be taken back. One small bonus: editing the amount or category on a bill you'd already paid used to get stubbornly refused, and now it just saves.Budget a Whole Month in One Go (KAN-2592)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidBudgeting
Setting up your budget just got a lot faster. Open any category and you'll find quick buttons that fill in what's scheduled and already spent this month, your three-month average, or whatever you budgeted last month — and a new "Budget every category" option does the whole month in one go. You can see every change before anything is saved, and undo it if you change your mind.Know When Your Reports Are Filtered (KAN-1091)
📱 iOS & AndroidReports & Insights
On your phone, filtering a report down to just your budget or a handful of accounts changed the numbers without ever saying so on screen — the filter was doing its job silently. Now you'll see a clear tag right on the report and a lit-up filter button, so you always know when you're looking at a filtered view.Transfer Decisions That Stick the First Time (KAN-1455)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidTransactions & Register
Confirming or dismissing one of the transfer matches we spot for you now always counts exactly once. We found a spot where a shaky connection or an extra tap could make your decision get processed twice — that's fixed, so your accept or dismiss sticks the first time, every time.Fewer False Bank Conflict Warnings (KAN-2060)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidData Sync
If you share a bank account with someone else on Tovari, you may have seen a warning that your connection might have been affected by their login — even when nothing was wrong and your account was just naturally quiet. We fixed it: that warning now only shows up when there's real evidence of a conflict, not just quiet activity.Your Payee Rules Cover More Than You Thought (KAN-2063)
🌐 WebPayees
We caught a bit of app text underselling itself — it said payee matching rules only applied when you imported a file, but they've actually been quietly working on your connected bank accounts the whole time too. Fixed the description so it finally gives itself credit.Your Keyboard Behaves During Confirmations (KAN-2175)
🌐 WebTransactions & Register
Your keyboard shortcuts kept working in the background even while a confirmation pop-up was open — say, when unlinking a transfer or undoing a bill match — so a stray keystroke could accidentally jump you to another transaction. We've fixed that: now your keyboard only responds to what's actually in front of you until you close the pop-up.Fewer False Alarms Linking Your Bank (KAN-2181)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidData Sync
If something briefly hiccupped on our end while you were linking, checking on, or reconnecting a bank account, you'd get a flat "something went wrong" error — even when it would've cleared itself a second later. We found the mix-up and fixed it, so those quick blips are now told apart from real problems. One Last Email When Access Ends (KAN-2235)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidBilling & SubscriptionsNotifications & E-Mail
If your card kept failing and your subscription quietly lapsed, we used to just stop talking to you — no explanation, no heads-up, nothing. Now you'll get one clear email the moment your access ends, telling you what happened and how to pick right back up where you left off.No More Vanishing Household Members (KAN-2358)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidHousehold ManagementSettings
If anyone in your household was set to the Auditor role, or didn't have a role assigned yet, your whole household list could disappear instead of showing everyone. We found that glitch and squashed it — now your full household always shows up, no matter each person's role.A Steady Header on Every Screen (KAN-2397)
📱 iOS & AndroidBudgeting
Moving to the Budget tab nudged the whole top of the app down, and everything underneath it with it — the Budget screen's header was simply taller than every other screen's. It is now exactly the same height, so switching tabs no longer shifts the page under your thumb. Making room meant dropping two lines that were repeating something already on screen: the small "THIS MONTH" caption above the figures, and the sentence splitting the total into envelopes and everything else. The month you are looking at is still named by the month control just above, and that split is still in the Not budgeted drawer, where you can also change it. Plan view loses its breakdown sentence for the same reason, and still shows your income and envelope totals in the slim header once you start scrolling.Reporting a problem from inside Tovari now actually reaches us (KAN-2430)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & Android
When you sent Tovari a suggestion, or used the help assistant's one-click button to tell us something was missing from the help pages, your report never actually reached us. The app showed an error saying it could not submit your report, and nothing arrived on our end — so no one ever saw it and you never got a confirmation. Reports you sent as a bug or a question were not affected and always came through. Suggestions and missing-documentation reports now file correctly, and you will get the same confirmation email you get for any other report. If you told us about something this way in the last few weeks and never heard back, it is worth sending again. The Try again button on a failed report now actually works (KAN-2431)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & Android
When a report failed to send, the app offered a Try again button that could never work. Pressing it showed a message claiming the report had already been used for a different report, and it kept showing that for the next full day, so the only way through was to start over in the separate report form. The message was also simply wrong — your report had not been used for anything else, and nothing had been sent. Trying again now genuinely resends the report, and a message that failed to reach us can be retried straight away.Help chat now responds to greetings with a friendly welcome instead of a documentation-gap error (KAN-2443) The in-app help assistant was treating simple greetings like “Hi” or “Hello” as unanswerable documentation questions, responding with “the documentation I found for it doesn’t cover it” and offering to report a documentation gap. Greetings now receive a friendly response that introduces the assistant and invites the user to ask a question, responding instantly with no delay from the AI model.
Dropdown Menus Pick What You Actually Chose (KAN-2445)
🌐 WebTransactions & RegisterCategorization & AIAccounts & BalancesBills & Reoccuring
Hovering over an option in some dropdown menus — picking a category, an account, or a bill — could quietly select that option the moment you pressed Enter, even if you never actually clicked or arrowed down to it. We tracked down the glitch: hovering is just a preview now, and Enter always picks the option you really chose.Bill Matches, Even Before They Post (KAN-2446)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidTransactions & RegisterBills & Reoccuring
When a bill payment matched up with a transaction that hadn't fully posted yet, your register didn't show it — the match happened behind the scenes, but nothing on screen said so, and you couldn't undo a wrong match until the transaction cleared, sometimes days later. Now you'll see a clear badge on those pending transactions right away, and on the web you can undo a wrong match immediately instead of waiting it out.Investment balances now appear for brokerages that don’t support Plaid’s investments feed (KAN-2450)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidAccounts & BalancesData Sync
Some investment accounts were showing no balance at all — just an endless loading state — even though the connection to the brokerage was working normally. This happened when a brokerage doesn't participate in the detailed investment holdings feed our bank connection provider offers, which left those accounts with no way to report a value. Tovari now reads the account's overall balance directly instead, so the value appears like it does for every other account. If a brokerage genuinely cannot share a balance at all, the account now clearly asks you to reconnect rather than loading forever.Your Missing Icons Are Back (KAN-2503)
🌐 Web
Some buttons in the app were showing up as blank squares — the help bubble in the corner, the send arrow when you ask a question. Your browser was hanging onto an old copy of our icons and had no way to know we'd added new ones. They're all back where they belong.Your Upcoming Bill Balances, Unblocked (KAN-2556)
🌐 WebTransactions & RegisterBills & Reoccuring
On the account register, the buttons at the end of each upcoming bill were sitting right on top of the balance beside them, hiding the last digit or two. The number itself was always right — we had just crowded it — so we have given those buttons their own room and the balance reads clearly again.Big Balances Now Fit (KAN-2578)
🌐 WebTransactions & Register
If your account balance runs into six figures, the register was letting the number spill over the column beside it, so part of it sat underneath your transaction amount. We have given both money columns enough room for the largest figures you are likely to see, and they now stay put no matter how narrow you make the window.Face ID Setup That Actually Sticks (KAN-2579)
📱 iOS & AndroidAccount & Security
Checking the box to turn on Face ID or Touch ID now actually works, even if you sign in with Google or Apple — before, it quietly ignored you. And if a Face ID or Touch ID setup ever doesn't go through, you'll get a heads-up instead of just wondering why it's still off.Link Transfers From Your Phone (KAN-2580)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidTransactions & Register
If you tried to pay a card from another account on your phone, you were stuck — there was no way to link the two as a transfer like you can on the web, so it just looked like two separate payments. We've fixed that: now you can pick the account right from the register on mobile, and it links up exactly like it would on your computer. We also closed a small gap that could let a shaky connection save the same transfer twice — on both mobile and web.Face ID Locks the Door Behind You (KAN-2589)
🍎 iOSAccount & Security
Face ID was only checking you once — after that, switching away and back let anyone holding your phone walk straight into your accounts, balances and all. Sometimes those balances were even visible in the little preview when you flipped between apps. Now every time you step away, the screen locks itself, and a quick scan gets you back in right where you left off.No More Duplicate Transfers (KAN-2590)
🌐 WebTransactions & Register
If turning a new entry into a transfer seemed to fail and you tried again, you could end up with an extra transaction — or the same transfer created twice. That's fixed: retrying now finishes the transfer you already started instead of creating a new one, so it goes through exactly once no matter how many times you tap. And if it had actually gone through the first time, trying again just shows you the transfer that was already there.Saying hi to the help assistant works again (KAN-2591)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidCategorization & AI
Saying hello to the in-app help assistant did not work. Typing a simple greeting like "Hi", "Hello" or "Good morning" brought back a red error message instead of a reply, so the very first thing many people tried failed and there was no obvious way forward. Now a greeting gets a friendly welcome that explains what the assistant can help with and invites your question, on both the web app and the mobile app. Asking a full question always worked and is unchanged.Improvements
Section titled “Improvements”Some Quiet Housekeeping Behind the Scenes (KAN-49)
🌐 WebAccount & Security
We spent some time tidying up old code behind the scenes — nothing you'll see or need to do, just some quiet housekeeping that keeps things running smoothly. Everything looks and works exactly the way it did before. No More Wandering Budget Months (KAN-84)
🌐 WebBudgeting
You used to be able to keep flipping through budget months long after you ran out of real ones, landing on dates so far off they didn't mean anything. That's fixed now: the arrows that move you between months stop right at the edges of your actual budgeting range, whether you're on the website or on your phone's browser.Faster Scrolling Through Your Transactions (KAN-245)
🌐 WebTransactions & Register
Scrolling way back through your transaction history used to get a little laggy the deeper you went. We smoothed that out, so your register now stays fast and responsive no matter how far back you scroll. One Less Click for Shared Accounts (KAN-462)
🌐 WebAccounts & BalancesHousehold Management
If you share your finances with your household, you can now mark an account as shared right from the same window where you edit it — no more hopping over to the full account page just to flip that one switch. Same setting, just closer at hand.Recovery Screens That Actually Fit Your Phone (KAN-541)
🌐 WebAccount & SecurityHousehold Management
Resetting your password, confirming a login code, or accepting a household invite from your phone used to squeeze a full desktop-sized layout onto a screen way too small for it. We rebuilt those screens to fit properly on mobile, so everything lines up cleanly and you can always see which step you're on.No More Colliding Payee Edits (KAN-576)
🌐 WebPayees
When Tovari was busy applying a category to a payee's transactions, you could still edit that payee's name and rules mid-update, risking a change that collided with the work already underway. We locked the whole payee editor until an update finishes, whether you're clicking through it or using the keyboard, so that can't happen anymore.Your Favorites, Now on Mobile (KAN-587)
🌐 WebAccounts & Balances
You can now star your favorite accounts right from your phone, not just your computer. Tap the star on any account and it jumps straight into a Favorites group at the top of your list, so the ones you check most are always right where you can find them.Cleaner Numbers on Your Balance Chart (KAN-653)
🌐 WebBills & Reoccuring
The balance chart on your Bills page could show negative balances a little oddly, like "$-500" instead of "-$500", when your projected balance dipped below zero. We cleaned that up, so dips into the red display correctly now, with slightly more precise numbers throughout the chart.Faster Planning for Big Budgets (KAN-668)
🌐 WebBudgeting
If your budget has a long list of categories, Planning now scrolls, jumps between cells, and fills in numbers noticeably faster. No more slowdown waiting for a big budget to catch up.Bank Transfers, Filed Correctly (KAN-719)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidCategorization & AI
Some transfers between your linked bank accounts were slipping through with a cryptic label like "ONLINE TRANSFER TO SAV 1234" — and instead of being recognized as a transfer, they'd land in your regular spending. We taught the app to recognize those descriptions coming straight from your bank, so transfers are filed correctly and don't throw off your spending totals.Goal Tracking, Now on Mobile (KAN-799)
🌐 WebBudgeting
You can now mark a budget category as a goal — or take it off — right from your phone's browser, no computer needed. It works on any category that already has a target set, and it shows up on your dashboard exactly the way it always has.Dismiss Budget Errors Anytime (KAN-800)
🌐 WebBudgeting
The error message that pops up in your Budget details used to overstay its welcome — it would only go away once you tried again or switched screens. Now it has a proper exit: tap the X, and it's gone whenever you say so.Watched Categories Follows Your Month (KAN-845)
🌐 WebBudgeting
The Watched Categories card on your dashboard used to freeze on the current month, even after you stepped back to look at an earlier one. Now it follows right along, so the card always matches the month you're actually viewing. No More Fake Google Sign-In Failures (KAN-871)
📱 iOS & AndroidAccount & Security
Signing in with Google could sometimes show you a "cancelled or failed" message even though nothing was actually wrong — it just meant you'd tapped sign-in again while the first attempt was still working. That false alarm is gone: we now quietly let the original attempt finish instead of treating it like an error.A Cleaner, More Reliable Dashboard (KAN-943)
🌐 WebReports & InsightsBudgeting
We fixed a small glitch where your spending breakdown legend could show a stray line when you had an odd number of categories. We also made sure your Safe to Spend status can never flash "Healthy" before your real numbers have finished loading. No More Vanishing Custom Date Ranges (KAN-952)
📱 iOS & AndroidReports & Insights
If you'd picked an older custom date range in Reports on your phone, it could quietly disappear from the menu the next time you checked. We found the glitch and fixed it — your range stays put now, no matter how far back it goes.Payee Picker Now Listens to Your Keyboard (KAN-1105)
🌐 WebPayees
If you moved your mouse while picking a payee, your keyboard (and screen reader) could quietly latch onto whatever you were hovering over instead of what you'd actually chosen — a little too eager to help. We've split the two apart, so hovering just previews an option while your keyboard stays firmly in charge of what gets picked. No More False Alarms on Transfer Matches (KAN-1199)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidTransactions & Register
If a slow connection or a double tap made you retry accepting or dismissing a suggested transfer match, you could get an error message even though your first tap had already gone through. Now a repeat request just hands back the same result you already had, instead of a confusing false alarm.Report Colors That Match Your Money (KAN-1340)
📱 iOS & AndroidReports & Insights
On the Income vs Expenses report, a few negative amounts were showing up in the wrong color — money owed reading like money earned, and vice versa. We tracked it down and fixed the mix-up, so the color always matches what actually happened. Everything else in this update is behind-the-scenes tidying that keeps our reports running smoothly for you.Clearer Balance Projection Messages (KAN-1718)
🌐 WebBills & Reoccuring
When your Balance Projection chart had no accounts to show for a scope — like Investments or All accounts — the empty message used to read a bit garbled, something like "No All accounts to project." We fixed the wording so every scope now reads like a normal sentence. No More Duplicate Bill Payments (KAN-2015)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidBills & ReoccuringData Sync
If you marked a bill as paid a few days before or after it was due, we sometimes failed to match it with the real payment when it showed up from your bank — leaving you looking at what seemed like two payments instead of one. That mix-up is fixed, so entering a bill near its due date now lines up with your bank activity correctly, whether you paid it a little early or a little late.See the Transaction Behind Every Correction (KAN-2125)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidAccounts & BalancesTransactions & Register
Ever tap a balance correction and wonder what actually changed? Now you can — tapping one jumps you straight to that exact transaction in your register, on web and mobile, so you can see the full story instead of a dead end.Fill Your Budget by Keyboard (KAN-2174)
🌐 WebBudgeting
Filling a budget category across the rest of the year no longer needs a mouse. Select a category in the budget planner and press Ctrl+Shift+→ (Cmd+Shift+→ on a Mac) to copy that month's amount across every month after it — the same trick as dragging to fill, just from the keyboard.Clearer Close Buttons on Android (KAN-2220)
🤖 AndroidBudgetingReports & InsightsHousehold ManagementSettings
A few screens on Android now spell out exactly what closing them will do. Adding a budget category, viewing our policies, and switching between reports now show clear wording like "Done" instead of a vague X, so you're never left wondering if you're about to lose something.Payee Merges & Deletes, Made Clear (KAN-2224)
🌐 WebPayees
Merging or deleting a payee now tells you exactly what happened — how many transactions, bills, and rules came along for the ride, right there on screen. No more wondering whether anything actually moved.Help Chat Puts Your Cursor Where It Belongs (KAN-2338)
🌐 Web
Sometimes your cursor didn't land in the help chat message box when you tapped "Report this gap" — it could end up somewhere else on the page instead. We found the glitch and fixed it, so now it's always right there, ready for you to type.Every Household Role, Correctly Labeled (KAN-2360)
🌐 WebHousehold Management
If someone in your household had the Auditor role, they used to show up on your roster looking just like a regular member — no badge, no hint they had a different level of access. Now every role shows up correctly labeled, so you can tell an Admin from an Auditor from a Member at a glance.Help centre now explains how connected investment accounts work (KAN-2367)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidAccounts & BalancesData Sync
The help centre now explains how investment accounts work when they're connected to a brokerage. It covers why these accounts show the value your brokerage reports instead of a running balance you reconcile, why opening one shows a history of dated values rather than a list of transactions, and what the "as of" and "checked" labels under the value each mean. It also explains what to do when an account asks you to reconnect before it can show a balance, and why a newly linked account shows a dash rather than a zero until the first value arrives.A Clearer Starting Balance (KAN-2394)
🌐 WebTransactions & Register
When you link a bank account, we add a "Starting Balance" entry to make your history line up — but on some accounts it was showing up looking uncategorized, like something needed fixing on your end. It didn't. We tracked down the glitch, fixed it, and gave that entry a small label so you can tell at a glance that it's automatic, not something you need to sort.Waitlist signups now reach a real person (KAN-2395)
🌐 WebNotifications & E-Mail
Joining the Android waitlist now reaches a real person. Until this change, every signup was saved correctly and nobody was ever told about it — so the promise on the site to email people when Android opens had no way of being kept. Each new signup now sends a notification with the details the person shared, so the list can actually be worked. The email leaves out nothing the submitter typed, and the system logs record only an internal reference, never anyone's address or answers.Your Categories, Labeled Right (KAN-2428)
🌐 Web📱 iOS & AndroidTransactions & RegisterBills & Reoccuring
Some transactions and bills — including special ones like your account's starting balance — were showing a placeholder "Categorize…" label even though the real category was already set behind the scenes. We tracked down the glitch and fixed it, so the label you see now always matches the real category, on the web and in the mobile app.Chat bubble icon on the support launcher button (KAN-2444) The floating chat support button now shows a chat bubble icon instead of a question mark, making it easier to recognize as the entry point for live support.
No More Vanishing Duplicate Warnings (KAN-2456)
🌐 WebTransactions & Register
On your phone, a transaction we'd flagged as a possible duplicate would lose that warning the moment it posted — so the same transaction looked suspicious one minute and perfectly fine the next. That flag now sticks around for as long as it should, so a possible double charge can't quietly slip by just because it settled into your register.
